    Zune zune zune

so ipod mini's life has come to an end. he served me well, but it's time to let go. it's time to get a ZUNE!
zune is better than ipod in a million ways.
    it's all here.

    The Zune Story

Zune starts with a 30 GB digital media player and adds a twist. You can wirelessly share selected full-length sample tracks, playlists, pictures, or your homegrown tracks directly from Zune to Zune. You can listen to the full-length songs that you receive up to three times in three days, flag the ones you like, and easily buy them the next time you sync up. You can discover new music in the Zune Marketplace and show off your favorite pictures and videos on the big, bright screen. Zune has all that and a built-in FM tuner too. Let your inner DJ run wild.

best of all... once zune rules the world... you can share a variety of audio files Not only can you share songs you purchased or downloaded via the Zune Marketplace, but you can also share your own recordings, too. Share the school lecture you recorded, your homemade music tracks, or your weekly podcast.

and it comes in pink! go windows! kick em apple asses (who are only better in marketing)!
    zune in pink

    too bad i don't have $250.

i DO have 1,600 pesos for my license fixer!
everyday, i'm always close to running over stupid pedestrians, but accidents happen, so it's all good.

excited about first sem! sched's great! got all the classes i wanted, lectures usually done by 12:30 mwf, 10:30tth. (yeah, i have to hang out with my block more... pray the lord be with me). I'm trying to convince myself that getting into DL is possible, even with the accounting, stat and eco. kaya yan. I mean, I really have to pull my QPI up now that JTA screening is getting closer, and I need a scholarship there, for my parents' sake, if I also want an extra year to finish my dream Comm major (please pray for me again).

OH my god, the white stripes will be on tour with cold war kids for the fall season. ARGGGH. i love my country, but it's just sad how artists hardly even consider coming here for international tours. Yeah christina aguilera is coming, incubus was here (tagal na nun ah), as with the beatles and frank sinatra (right?), but what about jack white?? we need good music here, people! enough of calalilly (i dont even care if i spelled that wrong). it's about time we get some creative, innovative and soulful music. I should probably go to... saguiho (? jeff, that right?) or to purple haze to see what local indie's got, just so i won't lose hope in opm.

woohoo tita dana's coming! tita dana owns the house beside ours, and she's coming on the 22nd, hopefully to slash out some stuff from my wishlist. and now that i can drive (my dad trusts me, unlicensed driver who only started 3 weeks ago, more than my tita, licensed driver even in europe for decades now), the shopping with tita possibilities are endless! and of course, baking sessions... chocolate cake with cheesecake core, brazo de mercedes, spicy desserts... yum yum yum.

a friend of mine is leaving for brazil, for good. apparently, our group loves him enough to make him a good-bye scrapbook to be given on our final senti night. and apparently, they're expecting ME to make a confession. ahmmm... if there's going to be any fessing on saturday, it won't be from me.
lionel and i were supposed to work on the scrapbook, but somebody stole my art stuff and my can of spray paint outside the pub! and that spray paint was yellow! (im in love with yellow right now). rar you dirty thief, youuu.

hahaha orsem today. MOB!!! enjoy dave!

    this is Rafa.
    short for Rafael.
    I love Rafa.
Everytime I see him, I can't help but smile and sigh and believe that there's still some good left in the world.

Dad doesn't like the name because, of course, Rafael Nadal is Roger Federer's archenemy, and Roger Federer is the love of my father's life (our family takes second place).

Maybe I'll get used to ITM

Day 2 of summer school--Paula wanted to tag along in hope of bumping into my blockmate (her new crush since he came over The White House for a drinking session). Too bad for her, though, she probably thought I was driving to school, but we had to commute--I don't think braving Metro Manila's pollution was worth it for her because 1. she didn't see him and 2.even if she did, it's not like a college sophomore would go for my fourth year high school little sister. Fine, she's got legs and a brain, but there's still no way I'm pimping her to any of my friends. hahaha. Turns out he's my classmate in ITM (he stole my chair in the complab, btw, so that makes him an asshole unworthy of dear little sis--okay, no he's actually a nice guy). Sorry diego luna it's not you :-p

After another flaming wings lunch, we went to Binky's/Xanland to watch Music and Lyrics. Non-verbatim quote: "Listening to a song is like meeting someone. The melody would be the physical, the sex. Eventually you get to know the song at a deeper level, the lyrics, the soul of the person." Here here, Drew! Scary realization though, I rarely get to know a song better or beyond the melody, I hope it's not the same thing with the people I meet.

*Thoughts are meandering again, I'm trying to aviod that. A hopeful step towards repairing my glaring lack of writing skills*

    Commuting Virgin

You know how girls always say the first time isn't at all comfortable, but the more you do it, it gets better? It's the other way around with commuting in Manila. My first time was in first sem of first year. Paula's first was with me earlier today. Learning how to get from point A to point B via LRT, MRT and trike wasn’t exactly orgasmic or mind-blowing, but it was eye-opening nonetheless. The people, the rides and the places were all new to me, but after a school-year of taking the same hour-long route, it was bound to become routinary.

What with the same ticket lines and flurry of EDSA sceneries day after day, commuting just grew boring.

I no longer found the persistent people being trapped between the MRT doors hilarious (I was telling Pau how I myself was an ipit-victim of those damn automatic doors--twice). The Katipunan station and the LRT itself wasn't impressive to me anymore (not even by my Filipino standards) whereas Paula was surprised to discover that the government was capable of providing passable mass transportation. The drug addict near the trike terminal didn't generate as much fear anymore (that bloodshot-eyes, messy-hair, no-bath-for-weeks monster pointing his lips at you while holding his crotch gave me a temporary phobia of that unlit area). The threat of meeting a "holdaperrr" while lost and helpless within a massive, moving crowd became smaller. Being pushed by late office-goers was replaced by weaving-through-the-crowd expertise.

Everything just takes getting used to. What used to be exciting, scary and unfamiliar turns into nothing more than another bother in daily living. Jaded is too strong a word, desensitized just about does it. I wonder what the other things in life are that we’ve all gotten so used to that we’ve all forgotten its beauty when it was our first time. I guess that’s part of growing older, wiser and more calloused. Thank God that’s not the case with sex.

    Este es mi padre

First day of summer classes, I went through a collegiate rite of passage, the one where you enter the wrong class and realize it only when you're all settled in (and you already said hi to your two crushes before walking the classroom's length without drawing too much attention, exiting with a "sayang" sigh). But hey who cares, I was wearing my new jeans, my new tank top, my new flats and my dad's ray bans, plus I drove down C5 all the way to Katips bebeh! Nothing could've ruined my day. Not the Manila heat nor the fact that for the rest of the summer, I'll be going all the way to Quezon City for merely an hour and half's worth of elementary computer lessons.
Oh but someone just wouldn't let it end that way. Someone had to reiterate all the consequences of not preparing for those two damned ITM diagnostic exams. "6 weeks of driving you to Katipunan everyday? 6 weeks of waiting for you in Makati til 5:30pm and getting stuck in southbound traffic? And that class isn't even credited! Kristina*, noong panahon ko kinahihiyan yung nagsu-summer! Ano ba yan." As if I didn't already feel bad enough about this for weeks back then. Ayan na eh, ano pa ba magagawa, we already paid for the tuition, I already attended the first session, we've all accepted that summer is officially ruined. Making me feel worse won't lessen the days I have to go there, won't shorten the distance between the white house and the blue aerie. Learned my lesson already.
That's enough venting for this webpage. No more ranting allowed for the next two weeks.

    Moving on...
Almost two months after my coming of age, some of my friends are still wondering what to get me. Kasiiiii not checking out the list! But for those who did obey my wishes, you may choose from the following messages: thankyouverymuch iloveit youhavesuchgoodtaste itsthebestgiftever. Feel free to add a surprised reaction or an imaginary hug. The list worked wonders for me, but to those who trusted their gift-giving instincts I owe my gratitude. And since it was her birthday two days ago, Seth gets special mention! yihee (But I'm guilty of greeting her late) still, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SETHY-WETHY! I have yet to come up with a gift as fabulous as the personalized, original Ferrer earrings in the most exquisite packaging you gave me, but I'll do my best!

    DIALOGUE of the DAY:
me and dad in the parking area, walking to the car
Dad: Kim, we took a test drive of the Getz kanina.
    Kim: Oh? And?
Dad: Ok lang... But the Jazz is more practical talaga.
    Kim: Hmmm. Yeah.
    Dad: Anong color gusto mo?
    Kim: Red!
    Dad: Ayaw mo ng silver-grey?
Kim: Eeek. It's so eeee. So inconspicuous.
Dad: What, are you saying our car's inconspicuous?
Kim: But I think I like electric blue more than red. Mas young.
    -walk walk walk walk walk-
Dad: Hindi pwede yung pang-bagets masyado yung kulay, tapos puro bata pa kayo tatlo sa loob, hindi safe. Dapat magmukhang panlalaki.
    Kim: Edi black!
Dad: Hindi pwede black hindi kita kagad pag gabi. Yung red nakakailay, pagsasawaan mo din yun, maluluma din. Silver-grey nga ang tama eh.
    Kim: .

This sounds awfully familiar... reminds me of the "anong course ba gusto mo" conversation before, although the latter had subtler injection of what he deemed to be best for me.
    Not that I'm complaining.

  • my (current persistent ) thoughts, her words

"That nothing will happen to you if you just sit there.

This is an extremely obvious fact, yet it's amazing how many people sit around dreaming of the day their life will begin, while life continues slipping past them.

Courage is a muscle you have to continuously and consciously strengthen. You must do something you're afraid to do at least once a week. You can start with the small things (the smaller "weights" so to speak), so that you'll be ready for the big things.

You've gotta keep moving, moving, moving."
